Pauline W. Curd, born May 29, 1917, in Calloway County, KY, passed away Jan. 28, 2013, at the age of 96. Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet, with Bro. Don Dillingham officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
She was the third child of William Lester Ward and Nettie Ann Patterson Ward. Pauline graduated high school in 1935 and began nursing school at Baird-Brewer Hospital. She graduated nursing school in 1938. Pauline passed the state nursing exam in Memphis and then returned to Dyersburg where she worked for a year at Baird-Brewer Hospital. She then moved to Nashville and began a year's study at Nashville General Hospital. Upon graduation she began working at St. Thomas Hospital. She met John Curd of Mt. Juliet and they married Dec. 10, 1941. She later went to work in the medical unit at DuPont and retired from there after 31 years. After retirement she continued being involved in activities in Mt. Juliet.
She is survived by sister, Imagene Ward; niece, Faye J. (Fred) Stroop; niece-in-law, Shirley Johnston; great-niece, Anne Jaskula; great-nephews, Steve and Greg Johnston; and many cousins in Kentucky.
Pauline was preceded in death by parents, William Lester and Nettie Ann Ward; husband, John E. Curd; a brother; three sisters; and a nephew.

The graveside service will be today, May 24, at 3 p.m. EDT at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ronnie Capes will perform the service. There will be no prior visitation.
