Phyllis Michaux Dickinson, 98, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Jan. 27, 2013. A celebration of life was held Feb. 1 at Pleasant Hill Community Church in Pleasant HIll. The Rev. Tom Warren and family members conducted the service. Burial was in Uplands Village Memorial Gardens.
Phyllis was born April 9, 1914, in Dedham, MA. Phyllis and her husband, Dr. William F. Michaux, DDS, were married in the Alice Millar Chapel on Northwestern University's campus in 1937, then moved to Bryon, IL, where Dr. Michaux set up his practice. Phyllis was a graduate of Northern Illinois State Teachers College. They were members of the First Congregational Church of Bryon, IL, and the First Congregational Church of Orange City, United Church of Christ. Phyllis was a member of Eastern Star, a leader in the Girl Scouts, played the flute in the Bryon Ensemble, was principle flutist in the Rockford Symphony, part-time librarian for the Bryon, IL, and Orange City, FL, libraries, a participant in the Uplands Under Shepherd Ministry, and mother to four children. Dr. Michaux passed away in 1995 in Orange City, FL. In 1996, Phyllis moved to Uplands Retirement Community in Pleasant HIll where she later marred the Rev. Leon Dickinson. The Rev. Dickinson passed away in 2000.
Those left to carry her legacy of love and giving are Ann Michaux Kehler, daughter, and husband, Larry, of St. Louis, MO, William Francis Michaux III, son, of Byron, IL, Merri Strong Bentsen, daughter, and husband, Robert, of Rawlins, WY, the Rev. Daniel Farrar Michaux, son, and wife, Trudi, of Orange City, FL, Thomas C. Brown, deceased, stepson, Marian K. Anderson, stepdaughter, of Lunenburg, MA, and John Edward Dickinson, stepson, of Tequesta, FL. Phyllis is survived by 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made to Uplands Village, Inc. or Pleasant Hill Community United Church of Christ.

The family received friends Tuesday, June 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. EDT at Evans Mortuary, with funeral service following at 7 p.m. President Charles Watkins officiated. Concluding and interment services will be today, June 18, at Roane Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Wanda Hicks, 61, of Crossville, passed away June 13, 2013, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held June 17 at Jennings Funeral Home-Clarkrange Chapel. A private burial will follow at a later time in the Springs Chapel Cemetery.

Retired Master Gunnery Sgt. Frederick Floyd Lester Jr., 89, of Crossville, lost his battle with melanoma cancer on Sunday, June 9, 2013. A memorial service was held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 15, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Scott Monday officiating.
