James Thomas "Jim" Hale, 75, of Crab Orchard, went home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2012. Funeral services were held April 29 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. The Rev. Martha Hale officiated with special music by Deloy Brown. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
He was born April 9, 1937, in Rockwood, the only son of James Riley “Jay” and Dixie Clark Hale. He was baptized a Christian Dec. 11, 1996.
He started out working in the family business for his Pa Hale and his dad at W.T. Hale and Sons Grocery on Main St. He also worked as a surveyor for the state of Tennessee and the TVA engineering department before starting his own surveying business, from which he retired. He loved living in the country, “The Mountains” as called he it. He also enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, fishing and four wheeling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth Ann Bowman Hale, of Crab Orchard. He was greatly loved by his family and Ruth Ann's family as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Greg Bowman, Nick Bowman, Scott Howard, Kevin Howard, James Boyd and Jason Boyd.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.

The graveside service will be today, May 24, at 3 p.m. EDT at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ronnie Capes will perform the service. There will be no prior visitation.
