CROSSVILLE —
William “Bill” Reeves, 90, of North Ridgeville, OH, went home to be with the Lord April 29, 2012, at his residence following a short illness. Services were held May 3 at Liston Funeral Home in North Ridgeville, OH. Military honors were conducted by VFW Post #9871 of North Ridgeville, OH. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, OH.
He was born July 7, 1921, in Monterey. Mr. Reeves had been a resident of North Ridgeville for more than 50 years. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. While in the Army, he served under the command of General George Patton and he fought during the Normandy Beach invasion in France.
He was employed at the Harshaw Chemical Company, now known as BASF, in Elyria, OH, for 35 years as a lead maintenance man and retired in 1983. Mr. Reeves was an active member of North Ridgeville Baptist Church and was also a former volunteer with the North Ridgeville Senior Center Meals on Wheels program. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and landscaping.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (nee Pugh); three daughters, Carol Willis and husband, John, of Elyria, OH, Lynn Reeves of Elyria, OH, and Sonja Brandenburg and husband, Dennis, of New London, OH; five grandchildren, Johnny and Stephanie Willis, Sarah, Heather and Nathan Brandenburg; two great-grandchildren, Eric Willis and Riley Brandenburg; sister, Anna Pearl Simmons of Dayton, OH; brothers, Larence Reeves Jr. and wife, Edna, of Monterey, and Ray Reeves and wife, Sis, of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence W. and Martha (nee Tays) Reeves; sisters, Geneva Wilbanks and Christine Kilgore; and brothers, Paul, Clifford, Burl, Earl and Robert Reeves.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Liston Funeral Home in North Ridgeville, OH, was in charge of arrangements.
