CROSSVILLE —
Clarence Edward “Ed” Houston, 65, of Crossville, passed away April 26, 2012. His family received friends April 29 and funeral services were held April 30 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Pastors Gary Howard and Jeff Slayton officiated the service. Special music was provided by Gary Howard, Melissa Howard, Debbie Houston and Beverly Lawson. Burial was in the Houston Family Cemetery.
Ed was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Crossville to Edward and June Woody Houston. He was a self-employed mechanic for more than 45 years. His family was always first and foremost and he loved them deeply and cherished spending time with them. Ed also loved playing the guitar in church and was of the Baptist faith. Fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR races were among his favorite hobbies, and he was a diehard Chevrolet man.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Houston; daughter, Stephanie Haley and husband, Adam; grandchildren, Kayla Burnett, Sydney Burnett, Savannah Haley and Hunter Haley; brothers, Ken Houston and wife, Ann, and Tim Houston; and sisters, Brenda Burks and husband, Jimmy, Joanne Houston and Lisa Kirby and husband, John.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and June Houston; daughter, Tammy Houston; and son, Billy Houston.
Pallbearers were Kenny Houston, Tommy Beaty, Duane Carter, Ronnie Hamby, Steve Hamby and Dale Watson. Honorary pallbearers included Al Woody, Jeff Woody, William Woody, Justin Woody, Kay Woody, Mark Cooper, Stanley Walker, Hugh Goss, Lester Adams and James Pryor.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
