CROSSVILLE — Nov. 18, 1915—Dec. 26, 2012

Sarah Blanche Hayes, 97, of Cookeville, passed away Dec. 26, 2012, at Bethesda Health and Rehab Care Center in Cookeville. Funeral serivces were held Dec. 28 in the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Dr. Joe Wiles and Bro. Russell Flatt officiating. Burial followed in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

She was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Clarksville, TN, the daughter of the late Matthew and Nettie Ruth (Davidson) Hale. She was the wife of the late Richard William Hayes.

Surviving are daughters, Peggy Clingan of Cookeville and Nancy Barkley of Ootewah, TN; grandchildren, Donna Clingan Whitson, Beth Clingan Overstreet and Lindell Barkley; and sisters, Jean Massengale of Chattanooga, Charldean Steil of Lenoir City and Mary Ragan of Lexington, KY.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, W.A. and Matthew Samuel Hale; sisters, Mable Coe and Frances Coots; and grandchildren, Cindy Barkley Smith and Lisa Barkley Fields.

Serving as pallbearers were Brooks Whitson, Frank Whitson, Brad Overstreet, Shane Cook, Lindell Barkley and Rodney Smith.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
