CROSSVILLE —
Garrett "Garry" M. Veenhuis, 70, of Crossville, passed away April 22, 2012. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 26, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
He was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Flint, MI. He was retired from the health care industry as an IT executive and was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crossville.
He is survived by his loving family, wife of 49 years, Sandy; dad, Mort Henick; daughters, Lori McGhee and husband, Mike, Stephanie Conley and Tara Smith; grandchildren, Doug Ratcliff, John Ratcliff, Courtney Holding, Katie McGhee, Tommy Brock III, Laruen Ratcliff and Lindy McGhee; great-grandchildren, Derek Ellis and Jace Jeanette Veenhis; and cousins, Bart Van Slyke, Chris Van Slyke and wife, Glenda, and Becky Martin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Henick; father, Melvin Veenhuis; daughter, Jennifer Veenhuis; brother, Brian Veenhuis; grandmother, Minnie Burr; aunt, Dorothy Dickerson; and cousin, Jan Van Slyke.
The family has respectfully asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association or Diabetes Association in Garry's memory.

Charles Presley officiating. Interment was in Algood City Cemetery, with full military honors provided by Veteran's Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Haley's Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 13 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. The Rev. Bill Harvey and the Rev. James Arland Anderson officiated. Burial will be private.
