Sam Piercy Jr.

CROSSVILLE — March 16, 1940—Dec. 2, 2012

Sam Wesley Piercy Jr., 72, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 2, 2012, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home Dec. 5, with Bro. Mike Ritzman officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.

He was born March 16, 1940, in Morgan County, TN, the son of the late Sam Wesley Piercy Sr. and Beaunie (Potter) Piercy.

Mr. Piercy was an automobile mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Devonda and Billy Poore, of Crossville; sisters, Glendora Turner, Freda Justice and Bonnie Ritzman, all of Crossville, and Pat Rush of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer Latham, Benjamin Piercy, Megan Piercy, Wesley Piercy and Sharissa Poore; and great-grandchildren, Kloee Latham, Abagail Hendley, Kylee Latham and Kayson Latham.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Mae Piercy; son, Samuel Lynn Piercy; and brothers, Wade Piercy and Jerry Piercy.

Pallbearers were Billy Poore, James Poore, Paul Adams, Randy Peterson, Dale Peterson and Keith Poore.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.

The graveside service will be today, May 24,  at 3 p.m. EDT at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ronnie Capes will perform the service. There will be no prior visitation.

    She was born July 4, 1970, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Jack Cooke and Sylvia (Pennicuff) Cooke.
