Crossville's own "Fried Pie Lady" Margaret Louise (Smith) Sherrill, 85, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 15, 2013. Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Joel Richards officiating. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Sherrill was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Crossville, the daughter of the late Dewey George and Martha Jane (Beyer) Smith.
She was retired from Carter's Ink and was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved to cook, quilt and play rummy.
Survivors include her daughters, Rita Kitchens (Robert) of Crossville, Sue Melson (Jeff) of Smyrna and Regina Strecker (Paul) of Crossville; brothers, John Lee Smith (Eunice) of Crossville, Delmer Smith (Monica) of Shalimar, FL, Vernon Lane Smith (Brenda) of Douglasville, GA, and Nowell Smith (Vicky) of Lebanon; sisters, Vanieneta Wisdom of Crossville, Jessie Dean (Warren) of Crossville, Linda Moffett (Ken) of Cleveland and Velma Burgess (Dave) of Crossville; grandchildren, Lori and Skip Freitag, Ronald and Cristie Neal, Lewis and Lesley Neal, Erica Neal, Andrew Burgess and Joshua Melson; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Braden, Alex, Molly, Levi and Conner Neal and Sienna Howe.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Nelda Arlene Sherrill; grandson, Randy A. Neal; and brothers, Robert "Rabbit" Smith, Frankie Smith, Ronnie Smith and Freddy Alfonso Smith.
Pallbearers were Ronald Neal, Lewis Neal, Andrew Burgess, Joshua Melson, Skip Freitag and Stacey Ledbetter.
Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
