CROSSVILLE — Oct. 8, 1974—Feb. 8, 2013

Sherman Gaines Phillips, 38, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 8, 2013. Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at Grassy Cove United Methodist Church. Burial was in Grassy Cove Cemetery. The Rev. Monica Mowdy officiated.

He was born Oct. 8, 1974, in Knox County, the son of Michael and Carolyn Jean Kemmer Phillips. He worked many years as a farmer on the Kemmer family farm and was also a member of Grassy Cove United Methodist Church. His great passion was his antique car.

He is survived by his father and mother, Michael and Carolyn Phillips of Crossville; daughter, Kalynn Phillips of Crossville; grandmother, Bobbye Kemmer of Crossville; sister, Sara Edwards and Hayden Edwards; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Mose Kemmer, and grandparents, Gaines and Kate Phillips.

Pallbearers were Reggie Rowell, Jessie Heart, Bill Mosely, Scott Langsford, Cody Kemmer, Russ Edwards and Wendell Wilson.

Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Presley officiating. Interment was in Algood City Cemetery, with full military honors provided by Veteran's Honor Guard.

Billy Vaughn Barnwell, 51, of Crab Orchard, TN passed away on May 10, 2013 at Cumberland Medical Center. The family will receive friends today, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Ralph Reagan officiating. Burial will be in Haley's Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 13 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. The Rev. Bill Harvey and the Rev. James Arland Anderson officiated. Burial will be private.
