CROSSVILLE — Patricia "Pat" (Piper) Clearson, 69, of Crossville, formerly of Wellsville, NY, passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a brief illness April 13, 2012. A funeral service was held April 20 at First Congregational Church in Wellsville, NY, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

She was born March 8, 1943, the daughter of Howard E. and Althea Piper. On Sept. 6, 1962, in Olean, NY, she married Daniel Gleason, who survives her.

She attended Alfred State Collage and was an NYS-certified substance abuse counselor. She formerly served as director of counseling at the Allegany County Council of Alcohol and Substance and at Employee Services, Inc. She enjoyed and mastered many hobbies, including quilting, knitting, horticulture and bird watching.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Gleason of Crossville; son, Lance B. Gleason of Atlanta, GA; brother, Christopher Piper of Marshfield, MA; sister, Sandra Baker of Mechanicsville, VA; and special friend, Marlene Jaeckel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Piper; her mother, Althea Piper; and her daughter, Melinda Frungillo.

The family requests donations be made to Art Circle Public Library in Crossville.

J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville, NY, was in charge of the arrangements.
