Shelby Goney

CROSSVILLE — Shelby Ray Goney, 67, of Crossville, passed away April 30, 2012, at Cumberland House Hospice in Crossville. Funeral services were held at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church May 2 with Bro. Garland Limburg and Bro. Al Watkins officiating. Interment was in Woody Cemetery.

He was born May 11, 1944, in Grimsley, son of the late Huey and Dollie (Stephens) Goney.

He worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a member of the Church of God.

He loved to fish and hunt arrowheads and ginseng with his friend Ray Pelfrey.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Goney, of Crossville; daughter, Angela Moore and husband, Darrell, of Pleasant Hill; son, Scott Goney and wife, Susie, of Crossville; sisters, Helen Goney of Jamestown, Barbara Goney of South Carolina and Pat Goney; and grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremie and Brandi A. Green.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Donnie and Shelley Goney.

Pallbearers were Johnny Wright, Allen Wright, Jeffery Holbert, Dale Reed, Donnie Wiggins and Lenny Filburn.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
