CROSSVILLE — Feb. 16, 1922 — Jan. 23, 2013

Harry Anthony Mercer, 90, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 23, 2013, at Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, TN.

He was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Harry and Louise (Beilman) Mercer.

Mr. Mercer was retired from Diamond International Corp. and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a decorated combat veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Mary Mercer of Crossville; daughters, Marianne LeGrand (Edmund) of Crossville, Patricia Lynch (Michael) of Hampstead, NC, and Janet Adams (Paul) of Littleton, MA; son, Donald Mercer of Cape Elizabeth, ME; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Helen Mercer; sisters, Louise Owczarski and Katherine Kolb; and brother, Edward Mercer.

Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.

The graveside service will be today, May 24, at 3 p.m. EDT at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ronnie Capes will perform the service. There will be no prior visitation.
