Patricia A. Ball

April 19, 1938 — April 4, 2007

Patricia Ann "Pat" Ball, 68, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 4, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 6-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Ms. Ball was born April 19, 1938, in Stamford, CT, the daughter of Richard and Marion (Warner) Ball.

She was a certified aquatics instructor at Fairfield Glade CMC Wellness Center from 2004-2006 and was on the board of directors of the PPCUG Computer Club.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Ball of Stamford, CT, Betty Ball of New Haven, CT, Barbara Ball of Columbia, MO and Joan Carroll of Fairfield Glade; brothers, Jim Carroll of Wallingford, CT, Patrick Ball of Ansonia, CT and Bill Ball of Trumbull, CT; stepmother, Mary P. Ball of Stamford, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Ball.

Donations may be made in Pat's memory to Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue, 121 Creek View Dr., Crossville, TN 38555.

Katie A. Caruthers

Sept. 17, 1918 — April 2, 2007

Katie Ann (Garrison) Caruthers, 88, of Crossville, passed away April 2, 2007. Funeral services were conducted April 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with William Payne officiating. Interment was in Big Lick Cemetery.

Mrs. Caruthers was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Utah and Mary Jane (Jewett) Garrison.

She devoted her life to being a Jehovah's Witness. She could best be described as a strong-minded, strong-willed, independent and inspirational woman. She had a passion for gardening, canning and reading.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Donna and Alfred Phillips of Apollo Beach, FL, Shirley Wakefield of Apollo Beach, FL and Allen and Annuciata Krute of Germany; and great-grandchildren, Christina and Erika Krute of Germany.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Caruthers; daughter, Carolyn Sue Krute; and brothers and sisters, Harriett, Emma Jane, Alfred, William, Jessie, Lona, Louise, James, Carl, Claude and Marvin.

Pallbearers were Alfred Phillips, Allen Krute and Billie Eldridge.

Bonzane O. Gillham

June 13, 1923 — April 4, 2007

Bonzane "Bonnie" Opal Gillham, 83, of Crossville, passed away April 4, 2007. Funeral services were conducted April 6 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven Pickard officiating. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Gillham was born June 13, 1923, in Overton County, the daughter of Ruth Masters Phillips and Jesse Phillips.

She attended Faith Assembly of God before becoming ill. She was a care giver in a nursing home before retiring and enjoyed sewing and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary R. Burton of Crossville; son, Robert Goodale of Lillian, AL; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Billie Reinke and Dorothy Maynard of Crossville; brothers, Keith Phillips and Henry Phillips of Crossville and Tommy Phillips of Florida; and special friend, Claudia "Chris" Beaty of Crossville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin son and daughter, Phillip and Phyllis Goodale; daughter, Georgia Goodale Thrasher; sisters, Evelyn Hughes and Jean Barrie; brothers, Don Phillips and Paul Phillips; grandson, Shayne Hopgood; and great-grandson, Dustin Thrasher.

Pallbearers were Lee Goodale, Will Goodale, Neal Hopgood, Larry Thrasher Jr., Steven Thrasher and Frank Thrasher.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles Freeman, Alexis Cheyenne Freeman and Shawnasea Gabriel Freeman.

Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.



Edwin M. Harvey

July 23, 1928 — April 4, 2007

Edwin Malcolm "Mal" Harvey passed away April 4, 2007 at his home in Newnan, GA. Services were held April 7 at Newnan First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hendree Harrison, the Rev. Gary Parrish, Dr. Med Roach, and the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

He was born July 23, 1928 in Hattiesburg, MS, the son of the late Clarence Charles and Ezilda Pegues Harvey.

He graduated from Winona High School, Winona, MS in 1946, received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from LSU in 1950, and worked for the Ethyl Corporation until he retired in 1989. His responsibilities included Capitol Products of Mechanicsburg, PA, Fiberlux, Inc. of Mt. Vernon, NY, and the William L. Bonnell Company of Newnan, GA and Carthage, TN.

Mr. Harvey was a director of the Aluminum Association and chairman of the extruded products division. He was a member of the Newnan Hospital board of directors, serving on the personnel, budget, long range planning and finance committees. He also served as a director on the Business Council of Georgia, the Newnan Coweta Chamber of Commerce, First Union National Bank in Newnan, the United Fund, and Goodwill Industries, and as a member of the Foundation Board of Wesley Woods, Inc., the planning board of the City of Newnan and the planning committee which built Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City.

An active member of the First United Methodist Church in Newnan, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Trewolla Harvey; three daughters, Sylvia Jane Harvey and husband Gary Dix Phillips of Marietta, GA, Sharon Ann Harvey McMichael and husband David Mark McMichael of Newnan, GA, Rebecca Lynn Harvey Stone and husband Cosby Allen Stone of Crossville, TN; eight grandchildren, Katherine Ann McMichael, John Malcolm McMichael, David Colson McMichael, Margaret Lynn McMichael, Cosby Allen Stone, Jr., Helen Ann Stone, Roy Edwin Stone, and Laura Jane Stone; brothers, Robert Hughes Harvey and his wife Corinne of Naples, FL, and Joseph McClellan Harvey of Fort Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Mrs. Clarence Charles (Frances) Harvey of Baton Rouge, LA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence Charles Harvey, Jr. , Nicholas Pegues Harvey, and James Otis Harvey; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Bayne Harvey and Charley Sample Harvey.

John E. Pasmore

June 16, 1942 — April 1, 2007

John Elliott Pasmore, 64, of Crossville, passed away April 1, 2007. Funeral services were conducted April 7 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Jim Pasmore officiating.

Mr. Pasmore was born June 16, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Maxine Elliott Pasmore.

He was an officer for the Broward County Sheriff's Department in Florida before retiring. He also served in the U.S. Navy. He had a great love of family and his grandchildren and was responsible for raising two families. He also have a great love for animals.

Survivors include his wife, Stacy Bailey Pasmore of Crossville; son, John Eric Pasmore of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Patricia Dellamorte and Dawn Pulver of West Palm Beach, FL; stepchildren, Jason Garofola of Springfield, GA and Patricia Garofola of Pompano Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Kevin, Christine, Daniel, Matthew, Alexandra and Johnny.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Pasmore.

Hattie J. Shirley

April 26, 1937 — April 3, 2007

Hattie Jean (Walker) Shirley, 69, of Crossville, passed away April 3, 2007. Funeral services were conducted April 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Floyd officiating. Interment was in Sand Springs Cemetery in Monterey.

Mrs. Shirley was born April 26, 1937, in White County, the daughter of William R. and Delma (Johnson) Walker.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Jerome Campbell Jr. of Crossville; granddaughters, Marlena Lane and Jennifer Campbell of Crossville; grandson, Kevin Dixon of Crossville; great-grandson, Brady Lane; and brother, Ray Walker of Monterey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Sue Stover; and brothers, Joe Walker and Don Walker.

Pallbearers were Hugh Goss, Jerome Campbell Sr., Jerome Campbell Jr., Dustin Lane, Clifford Wightman and Billy Caudill.

Edward L. Snearley

Jan. 19, 1924 — April 4, 2007

Edward L. Snearley, 83, of Fairfield Glade, passed away April 4, 2007. Funeral services were conducted April 6 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Schoolfield officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery. Full military honors were provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Snearley was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Oblong, IL, the son of Leo J. and Ester (Baker) Snearley.

He was retired from United States Steel and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Amy and David Scholz and Laura Webster, all of Fairfield Glade; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Burnita Mae (Harness) Snearley; daughter, Sharon Rudolph; and brother, Stanford Snearley.

    Funeral services for Velma Short Phillips, 89, of Crossville, will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cumberland Fellowship Church in Crossville. Pastor Hank Jones will officiate with interment to follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery in Monterey. The family will receive friends at the church, at 1640 West Ave., Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m.
