Chloe D. F. Barnwell

Chloe Danielle Faith Barnwell, infant daughter of John and Lacy Barnwell of Crossville, was born and passed away July 21, 2007. Funeral services were conducted July 24 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Ralph Reagan officiating. Interment was in Pomona Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Chloe is survived by her sisters, Carrigan Barnwell and Ashley Streeter of Crossville; grandparents, Carl and Barb Barnwell of Peoria, IL, Melissa Nelson and Scott Houston of Crossville; niece, Madison Reed; nephews, Eathan Nobles, River Nobles and Christopher Brown; and aunts and uncles, Misty Brown, Jessica Brown, Erika Nobles, Kim Stone, Terry McWilliams, Blake McWilliams, Troy Barnwell and Gage Houston.

Donald E. Crace

Dec. 26, 1931 — July 24, 2007

Donald Earl Crace, of Franklin, TN, passed away July 24, 2007. Born Dec. 26, 1931, Mr. Crace was a native of Oak Hill, Ohio. He was the youngest of six children born to Roland and Ethel Crace. He entered the family charcoal business after high school and expanded it to Ocala, FL, with his brother, R. Joseph Crace. Don and his wife, Janice Slagle Crace, raised four children together. In 1972, they moved the family and the business to Crossville, TN. In 2003, he and his wife made their retirement home in Franklin, TN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Ethel Crace; older brother, Roland Jr.; older sister, Eva Allen; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hope Crace.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Slagle Crace; his children and their spouses, Sam and Judy Crace of Glasgow, KY, Tim and Leah (Crace) Jones of Fredrick, MD, Don Jr. and Charlene Crace, David and Jennifer Crace, both of Brentwood, TN. He is also survived by his older brother, R. Joseph Crace of Brentwood, and sisters, Dolly Cherrington and Opal Crabtree of Oak Hill, Ohio.

He was known affectionately as "Papaw" by his 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His greatest gift to his family and friends was his witness of a Christian life. His love of Jesus will be a legacy for all who knew him. He believed in the strength of family and with his wife of 55 years provided a firm foundation based in the word of God.

Always active in his community, Mr. Crace was a member of Gideons International and Rotary International. He was also instrumental in starting the Bread of Life Rescue Center in Crossville, TN. His other ministries included a prison ministry, a senior citizen ministry, and numerous mission trips to Haiti over a 20-year period.

His love of the Lord inspired his faithfulness to his church throughout his life where he served as a deacon. People from many walks of life were drawn to the Jesus they saw in him. He never met a stranger, and he always considered a conversation as an opportunity to give witness to the salvation found in Christ Jesus.

Visitation with the family was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, with services on Friday, July 27, at 10 a.m. Bilbrey Funeral Home, 76 E Adams St. Crossville, TN 38555, will be providing services.

Hubert Dodson

Aug. 14, 1939 — July 20, 2007

Hubert "Bascom" Dodson, 67, of Pleasant Hill, passed away July 20, 2007. Funeral services were conducted July 23, from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Warren and Bro. Tom Davis officiating. Special music was by Vic Eller. Burial was in New Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Dodson was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Van Buren County, the son of Venus J. and Alla Mae Clouse Dodson.

He attended Westley's Chapel Methodist Church. He loved to farm and spent most of his life working his farm along with taking care of his cattle. He also worked with the Cumberland County Road Department and the Sparta City Police Department. He loved people and never met a stranger. He always enjoyed the time spent laughing and talking with people. The happy moments and the laughter he shared will be precious memories we hold dear in our hearts.

Survivors include his wife, Berdeanna Dodson of Pleasant Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Marla Dodson of Sparta; daughter and son-in-law, J.J. and Mike Lowe of Crossville; stepdaughter and husband, Sherry and Arthur Primrose of Sparta; brothers and sisters-in-law, V.J. and Carol Dodson of Pleasant Hill and Robert and Barbara Dodson of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Anna Ruth and William Tucker of Mulberry, FL; grandchildren, Dalton Lowe, Kaci Young and Eli Young; and very special friend, "Eck" Bilbrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were Rodney Dodson, Rickey Dodson, J.J. Lowe, Lance Brown, Ronald Randolph, David Dodson, Jeff Dodson, Tony Bilbrey and Casey Jones.

Walter E. Henson

July 20, 2007

Walter Eugene Henson, 75, passed away July 20, 2007 in Crossville. A memorial service was held July 26 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Henson was born to Walter and Alice Marie (Walters) Henson in St. Louis, MO.

He was very active in sports, including minor league baseball, tennis, basketball and college football. He graduated from Blewit High, Harris Teacher's College and Missouri University. Then he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea.

After discharge, he was introduced to Carleen Schott at Third Baptist Church where both were raised. They married there 50 years ago.

He began his career in accounting working for McDonald Douglas. Quickly moving to comptroller of AG Edwards & Sons, he then became vice president of finance at Rexall Drug Company. With his success, he moved to West Bend Company in West Bend, WI, to take the position of executive vice president of finance and operations as well as president of the international division of Hobart Corporation, retiring to Fairfield Glade at 53.

Walt and Carleen enjoyed traveling, golf, tracking the stock market, playing bridge and spending time with their family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Caryla (Guy) Tuxhorn of Wisconsin; son, Brian of Tennessee; and the apple of his eye, his only grandchild, Carlynn Tuxhorn. He is also survived by two step-granddaughters and three step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws.

The family requests memorials be made to the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

Diane E. Poleni

May 2, 1942 — July 21, 2007

Diane Elizabeth Poleni, 65, of Fairfield Glade, passed away July 21, 2007. Funeral services were conducted July 26 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Clawson, MI, with Father Gerry Lebeouf and Monsenior Michael Lefevre officiating. Burial followed at the White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, MI.

Mrs. Poleni was born May 2, 1942, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Elmer and Lucile Garrett Kaufman.

She was an administrative secretary and was active with the Girl Scouts for over 35 years. She was also a member of St. Rene Gupiel in Sterling Heights, MI and St. Francis of Assisi after moving to Fairfield Glade. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with people.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, R. Martin "Marty" Poleni of Fairfield Glade; son, Michael Poleni of St. Clair Shores, MI; daughter, Victoria Poleni of Belding, MI; and brother, Don Kaufman of Birmingham, MI.

The family has respectfully asked that donations be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.

Howard A. Pugh

Aug. 30, 1937 — July 25, 2007

Howard Andrew Pugh, 69, of Crossville, passed away July 25, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home of Sparta, with Bro. Doug Benningfield. Burial will be in the Pugh Cemetery in Cumberland County.

Mr. Pugh was born Aug. 30, 1937, the son of Andrew Arthur Pugh and Ethel Gore Pugh.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Pugh of Crossville; son, Howard Andrew Pugh Jr. of Ohio; brother, Harold Pugh of Pleasant Hill; stepsons, Randy Rutherford, Anthony Rutherford and Mike Johnson, all of Sparta; stepdaughters, Katy Miller, Regina Cope and Juone Rutherford, all of Sparta; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a niece, nephew, three great-nieces and one great-nephew.
