Daniel B. “Dan” Swift, 70, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, Jan. 12, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday or one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
He was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Muncie, IN, the son of Lafe and Mary (Funkhouser) Swift. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1960, served in the U.S. Air Force and attended Ball State University.
Mr. Swift was a manager at Broderick’s and then Borg-Warner until his retirement in 2004.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #245, Moose Lodge #33, American Legion Post #19, and Community Church in Crossville. Dan was also an avid bowler and golfer, being inducted into the Muncie Bowling Hall of Fame and Delaware County Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Alice McClellan Swift; four children, Jom Lynch (Monica) of Austin, TX, Tara L. Brumback Waldop (Clint) of Hudson, WI, Lesli A. Brumback Levesque of Beaverton, OR, and Angela D. Brumback Sorah (Chris) of Muncie, IN; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Briana, Robbie, Michael, Ashlee, Katie, Collin and Jensen; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Bailey and Brooklynn; his brother, Dick Swift (Janet) of Muncie; his sister, Cherril Hedges (Elbert) of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Mildred Swift.
