Roy Alvin Sedrel, of Crossville, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 79 on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.
Roy was born in Des Moines, IA, to parents Alvin C. Benson and Dorothy Faye Klein in 1933. He graduated from Des Moines High School, served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Korean War, earned a B.A. in accounting at AIB, Des Moines, IA, and a master's degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL.
Roy dedicated his life in service to his family and community and retired from Illinois School District #15 as deputy superintendent of business administration. During his career he was the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding contributions to the community and served as president of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials.
He embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed many different pursuits including woodworking, sailing, camping and RC airplane modeling.
Roy's life was a true demonstration of the principles of integrity, honor and devotion to family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sedrel, and his daughter, Kathie Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Lynnea Donai, and his son, Steven Sedrel.
Roy's life will forever be a blessing upon all of those he touched during his journey through this world. May his family and friends find peace and comfort in their loving remembrances of him.
Roy and Carolyn were active and committed members of the First United Methodist Church of Crossville, TN. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The family requests that any donations in his memory be made to either the Cumberland County Chapter of Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc. or Hospice of Cumberland County.

James Edward Poe, 63, of Crossville, passed away May 14, 2013, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home May 17, 2013, with Bro. Roger Burgess officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
Mabel M. Hudson, 98, of Crossville, passed away May 15, 2013, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home May 17, with Bro. Barry Kennedy officiating. Graveside committal was held May 18 at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Vivian Gail Helmer (Beaty), 69, of Ft. Myers, FL, went to be with her Lord April 14, 2013. There will be a graveside gathering May 26 at 1 p.m. at the Jay Conatser Cemetery in Little Crab, TN.
Doris Rae (Clifton) Bell, 68, of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 8, 2013, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. Visitation was held May 14 at Bilbrey Funeral Home, with interment at Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Erma Lucille (Freeze) Modglin, 71, of Crossville, passed away May 10, 2013. A graveside service was held at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Fentress County May 14, with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating.
David Edward Hood, 58, of Crossville, passed away May 10, 2013. Funeral services were held May 12 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Norris and Bro. Jerry Harris officiated. Burial was in Martha Washington Cemetery in Fentress County.
Jack Raymond Flury, 55, of Crossville, passed away May 3, 2013. The family received friends May 6 at Hood Funeral Home.
Funeral services for pastor Ottis Ramsey, 84, of Cookeville, were held May 13 from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial followed in Judd Cemetery.
Stephen Douglas Padgett, 51, of Crossville, passed away May 3, 2013, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Funeral services were held May 5 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. Bro. Ken Clayton and Bro. Larry Long officiated. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
