Betty Jo Neely Simmons, 72, of Halls, TN and formerly of Crossville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 31, from the chapel of Lynnhurst-Greenwood, with Elder Ellis Lynn and Elder Daniel Wood officiating. Interment was in Lynnhurst Cemetery.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother. Mrs. Simmons was employed by Levi's in Powell for many years. She was a member of Oakwood Primitive Baptist church.
She will be missed by her husband of 50 years, Tony Simmons Sr.; children, Tony Simmons Jr. and Terry Simmons; grandchildren, Kerrie Moody and husband, Matt, Kristin Simmons, Eli and Ethan Simmons; sisters, Shirley Davis of Crossville and Linda Walker of Sparta; brothers, Carl and wife, Anita, Neely of Crossville, and R.C. and wife, Roberta, of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Karen Wood and husband, Johnny.
She was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Stachie Neely.
Pallbearers were Ricky and Bart Neely, Jimmy, Jeff and Jason Walker, and Zachary Wood.
