Nov. 23, 1921 — April 23, 2008
Gladys Nancy Howell, 86, of Crossville, passed away April 23, 2008, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. A private graveside service will be held at the Martha Washington Cemetery in Clarkrange.
Mrs. Howell was born Noc. 23, 1921, in Gubser Mill, KY, the daughter of Luther and Letha Herbert.
She moved to Fort Pierce in 1952 with her husband, Charley "Poke" Howell, coming from Kentucky, and lived there until 1989, moving to Crossville. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. She loved her family, bird watching, working in her flower gardens, working puzzles and reading. Her family loved her and will miss her but know that she is finally at peace.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Louis Hanes Sr. of Crossville; grandchildren, Kimberlee and husband Kenneth Gagnon, Desiree and husband Joseph Cimino III of Fort Pierce, Denise Hanes of Crossville and Richard Hanes Jr. of Perry, FL; great-grandchildren, Zachary Hendershot, Taylor Hendershot, Jordan Cimino, Joshua Cimino and Briana Hanes, all of Fort Pierce; and sisters, Carol Harden and Austie Bryant of Dayton, KY and Alice Matteoli of Wilder, KY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charley "Poke" Howell; son, Robert Calvin Howell; brothers, Omer and Elmer Herbert; and sisters, Juanita Herbert and Audrey Watson.

Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Aileen Pridgen Patience, 92, of Crossville, passed away April 29, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roland Smith officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, at a later date.

This past Saturday, Cumberland County lost one of its most beloved figures when Mr. Claude Little passed away at Erlanger Hospital following a massive stroke incurred Wednesday, April 21. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4, at Crossville First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Bilbrey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
