Edna G. Cooper

Aug. 7, 1928 – Aug. 5, 2008

Edna Geraldine "Jerry" Cooper, 79, of Pleasant Hill, passed away surrounded by her family Aug. 5, 2008. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 8 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Garrett officiating. Burial was in Crossville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooper was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Livingston, the daughter of Herman and Mary Anna Walthall Gunnels.

Her family then moved to Cumberland County where her father operated a sawmill in the Dorton community. On March 29, 1946, she married Homer Cooper Jr. She was a homemaker, mother and granny to five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her family and home were her greatest joys. With a quick change of shoes and a "let me grab my purse," she was always ready to go. She loved exploring back roads, junk stores, working in her flowers and then at the end of the day, sitting in her swing that overlooked the farm where she lived for over 30 years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Shirley Cooper of McMinnville; daughter, Pat and Tom Smith of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Michael Cooper, Jody Qualls, Trevis Wright and Angie Wright; great-grandchildren, Zack, Macy, Brienna, Jesse, Kendall, Kolby, Seth and Brandon; and her very special friend, Patty Womack of McMinnville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Cooper Jr.; daughter, Janet Sue Cooper; sister, Jo Hill; and grandson, Scott Wright.

Pallbearers were Michael Cooper, Mark Qualls, Trevis Wright, Jesse Wendig, Zach Qualls, Kendall Cooper and Tim Hammons.

Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
