James Vernon Harris, 69, of Crossville, passed away Sept. 18, 2008. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 20 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Phil Jenkins officiating. Interment was in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
Mr. Harris was born March 27, 1939, in Livingston, the son of Vernon Rufus and Mae Deane (Norrod) Harris.
He was a brick mason and a member of the Stevens Gap Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Allen (Bowman) Harris of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy A. and Donna Harris and Jerry L. and Kim Harris, all of Crossville; mother, Mae Deane (Norrod) Harris of Monterey; grandchildren, Andy Harris, Trevor Harris, Josh Harris, Brandi Harris, Brittany Harris, Ali Harris and Tori Harris; great-grandchild, Ava Harris; sisters, Betty Leming of Monterey, Frances Stults of Smithville, Peggy Houston of Crossville and Diane Phillips of Monterey; brothers, Lowell Harris of Portland, TN, Donald Harris of Lawrenceville, GA and Harry Gene Harris of Monterey; and care giver, Martha Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Rufus Harris, and an infant son.
Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
