Paul F. Taylor

Paul Franklin Taylor, 86, of Cumberland County, passed from this life to his new life on Nov. 5, 2008. Funeral services were conducted at the Crossville Nazarene Church which he attended for many years. The Rev. Dale Bailey, the Rev. Dan Hively and the Rev. Jeff Monday officiated. Burial was in the Crossville City Cemetery. The Veterans Honor Guard provided military honors and served as pallbearers.
Mr. Taylor was born May 17, 1922, in Cumberland County, the son of James F. Taylor and Elsie Dayton Taylor.
Upon graduation from Cumberland County High School, he obtained a civil service position at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. He entered active military duty in the United States Air Force during World War II and complete three years of service. He returned to Wright-Patterson after the way and also earned an associate's degree in engineering from the University of Dayton, graduating in 1956. The Air Space Program was opening and he moved to Florida to work at Cape Canaveral in the aero-space industry. Later he was employed at Langley Processing in Statesville, NC. Eventually, he moved back to Crossville to be near his family and worked at General Processing. He became involved in industry in this area as a metallurgist.
He was an avid home-study student in the sciences, primarily in math, astronomy and physics. He authored and published a book, "Earth, Suns and Solar System Gravitation Theory." He was a great student of the Bible and was very knowledgeable about Israel and the events prophesied to take place there in the future. He made a trip to Israel to speak to Golda Meir. He loved to talk about walking the streets and areas where Jesus walked.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Eaton Taylor of Tansi; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Paulette Taylor of Macon, GA, and Richard and Colleen Taylor of Rockledge, FL; daughters, Judy Taylor of Knoxville, Betty Jean Taylor of Monterey and Susie McCoy of Crossville; stepchildren, Aleta Haynes of Baltimore, MD, Michael Eaton of Hartselle, AL, Angela Traylor of Decatur, AL and Melinda Steele of Decatur, AL; 12 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jan Taylor of Crossville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Taylor of Zenia, OH, and David Taylor of Crossville; and sister, Elizabeth Hensley of Crossville.
Honorary pallbearers were Kent McCoy, Lee McCoy, David Taylor, Dan Taylor, Bob Taylor, Mike Taylor and John Warren.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
