'Holiday Magic' at annual Crossville Christmas parade

Commercial-Industry category — Ironwood Construction & Engineering

Religious category — Grace Baptist Church

Vintage Auto category — Car owner Glenn Farr

Nonprofit category — Girl Scout Troop #556

ATV/Motorcycle category — Daryelle Thompson

Horses — Michelle Carson and Lacie Lee

The grand prize winner received a $500 prize. Category winners received $100. All winners were treated to an awards breakfast hosted by First National Bank of Tennessee.

The city of Crossville thanks all participants in the 2009 parade, and thanks members of the Crossville-Cumberland County Rescue Squad for their assistance.

  • homestead1 PHOTO GALLERY: Homestead community celebrates 75-year anniversary Actress Patty Payne played the part of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt for a reenactment of the speech Roosevelt made in the community. Payne has played the part of Mrs. Roosevelt many times in the Homesteads Album, an original production of the Cumberland County Playhouse, and her performance was one of the highlights of the Homestead's 75th anniversary celebration.

The event took place at the Pleasant Hill Community House. A few members of the community were eager to represent those who made a mark on the Pleasant Hill Academy.

  • vet9 PHOTO GALLERY: A day of rolling Thunder honors all veterans I had the pleasure of going on the Veterans Thunder Motorcycle Run last Saturday. It was an amazing ride to South Pittsburg, TN where the Vietnam Veterans of Cumberland County were honored with a proclamation and the key to the city. The ride honored all veterans. The event had live music, food and a brief ceremony. It was a great experience.

The event featured Native American dancing, drumming and storytelling. It is held annually in June.
