CROSSVILLE —
Stone Memorial High School senior Jared South has a very interesting teenage life and an extremely admired career planned for the future. It is no wonder that SMHS guidance counselor Andrea Simmons selected him for the FFG Lions Club “Student of the Month” program.
Jared South is a busy young man in and out of his senior year in high school. He presently is the first baseman on the SMHS baseball team, deeply involved in FCA, BETA Club, Student Council and Renaissance Club. He takes dual credit and advanced placement courses and keeps active in all other school activities.
His outside activities also accounts for a long list. He is a volunteer firefighter with the Crossville and Cumberland County Fire Departments, serves as a student leader for the youth group at his local church, sings in the church youth Praise Band, volunteers once a month at the Meals and More Soup Kitchen and works part time at Rocky Top 10 Cinema.
Jared’s hobbies include sports, singing, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, firefighting and traveling. His future plans are extremely interesting and ambitious. He plans to attend East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in Johnson City to major in nursing. Jared wants to become an RN-paramedic and work in a trauma emergency room. Eventually he wants to be a Certified Register Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) when he finalizes the requirements.
It is most exciting and encouraging to learn about some of the young students who have been selected as “Students of the Month.” It is sometimes easy to get discouraged about the future of our country. But many of the youth in our high schools bring new hope.
