All in the Game: Lots of good jobs available
First, it was in the college ranks, and now the professional football game is filled with openings for qualified coaches. In my opinion, the one who should have been fired managed to keep his job and that would be Rex Ryan of the New York Jets.

ALL IN THE GAME: Another good year is almost gone
Of course, when you reach my age, it is always good to see another year on the horizon and, from my very biased Vanderbilt point, this past one was wonderful. Their bowl date is swiftly approaching and a ninth win would be an almost unheard of event on West End in Nashville.

ROCKY TOP BEAT: Vol nation turns attention to hoops
The weeks following the end of the football season saw basketball take a back seat to the football coaching situation. Now that the new staff is in place, the Vol Nation can turn their attention to UT basketball.

Rocky Top Beat: Jones hired as Vols’ football coach
The Big Orange finally got a leader for their football program last Friday. After shooting for the stars, the Vols ended up with a good coach despite a search that, at times, left a lot to be desired.

All in the Game: Did they get the right man?
According to the current Tennessee athletic director he got his man when he landed Butch Jones for the Volunteer's head coaching position. Seems like he also said that when he thought he had lured another prospect to the job. Got to be positive about it.

Oh Good Greif: Tennessee coaching search back to square one
The coaching carousel continues, as it is back to square one at Tennessee. Both Charles Strong (Louisville) and Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State) declined Athletic Director Dave Hart's offer to be the next Vols head coach. Tennessee will be the last SEC school to hire a new head coach. I guess North Carolina coach Larry Fedora is still in the picture.

Rocky Top Beat: Coaching search has increased fans’ stress level
Tennessee fans the past few weeks have certainly had their collective emotions thrown about like a Frisbee. They have seen Athletic Director Dave Hart set out to make the most significant hire during his short tenure in Knoxville. The stress level among those who follow the Big Orange increased with each passing day without a new coach. Finding the right coach to save a SEC football program is not an easy task. Hiring the fourth coach in five years makes it critical to get it right.

All in the Game: 'Dores to travel across town again
Well, once again, it won't be a long trip for the Vanderbilt Commodores, but they will be in a bowl game and that can't be said for all. This team continued to improve all year and hopefully that will carry over into the game against North Carolina State.
-
ALL IN THE GAME: It's been a very good year
This headline doesn't just refer to the football season, but the way that the Commodores finished their regular season. It does add to the glee of this wonderful time of year. If Vandy's winning streak ends in their bowl outing, and they are deserving of a good one, it will subtract nothing from the year that they have enjoyed through hard work and perserverance. Of course, coaching was also a major factor.

Rocky Top Beat: Week has seen many changes for the Vol Nation
A lot has happened over the weekend from a humiliating loss (41-18) at Vanderbilt to the firing of the head coach. That despite his best intentions, simply could not get the football program headed in the right direction. Finally, Dave Hart did what he had to do and we will see Jim Chaney on the sidelines for the Kentucky final. We wish Coach Derek Dooley and his staff the best in their future endeavors.
