CROSSVILLE —
The Cumberland County Community Band will present their annual spring concert on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Stone Memorial High School in Crossville. Admission is free and open to the public.
This concert has no specific theme for the music chosen, but is sure to please an audience of all ages. You can expect to enjoy the music of Duke Ellington, John Denver, George and Ira Gershwin and of course fantastic marches.
The opening selection “Carnegie Anthem” by William Owen was chosen to honor conductor Brian Bacon. He will be making his Carnegie Hall conducting debut as part of the MidAmerica Productions Choral Concert Series in May. Mr. Bacon will be conducting a 35-piece orchestra, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, along with several choirs including the Festival Chorale of Fairfield Glade, Roane State Community Concert Choir, New Orleans Children’s Choir and the Freeport High School Select Chorale.
Other wonderful selections to be included in this concert include Frank Ticheli’s “Shenandoah” and some new marches in the concert band repertoire: “Camp Emery Band March” and “Manhattan Beach March.”

'Georgia Songbird' coming to Palace June 7 for First Friday performance
EG Kight, “the Georgia Songbird,” is bringing her Country-Flavored Southern-Fried Blues back to Crossville’s Palace Theatre. Kight’s 2011 First Fridays performance garnered rave reviews from all in attendance with many of those audience members requesting an encore performance. PAART is very happy to grant their wish by presenting EG Kight at the Palace Theatre on Friday, June 7, at 7 p.m. central time.

GRITS coming to Palace May 31
Highly acclaimed band GRITS From Dumplin Valley will perform at Historic Palace Theatre on May 31 beginning at 7 p.m. Chris Marion, longtime keyboardist for world famous Little River Band, will join GRITS. Chris sometimes performs with GRITS when not on the road with LRB. A rising young talent from Nashville, Shelby Terrell, will start things off with a solo show.
