Nashville R&B;/pop singer and songwriter JaQuise will be performing at Mister Ed's in Crossville Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.
She has been writing songs for her debut album and is currently in the studio recording, with the hope of a release date late in 2009. Most of the songs she is recording are her creations with a couple of surprises.
Combining the production experience of Nashville independent record producer Scott Tutt (known for discovering/producing super group Alabama) with the radio-ready beats and youthful energy of Josh “Sixth Sense” Scruggs, and the soulful lyrics and melodies of JaQuise, her music is ready to happen on the airwaves internationally. The album will also feature some great Nashville musicians helping to combine the roots of classic R&B; with the modern R&B;/hip hop/pop sounds of today.
Although new to the recording studio, Tutt is impressed with how quickly she has learned the art of recording her music. “Usually it takes a much longer time for an artist to be comfortable in the studio, and actually be able to give all they’ve got when the recording light is on. JaQuise is a natural!” he said.
He added that her music appeals to an R&B; audience, but has an equally broad pop music appeal like that of many of the most successful stars of today, like Beyonce, Rhianna and Ciara.
Presently, she is performing in clubs and at festivals throughout the South building her fan base. She realizes that she not only has to create great records, but be able to perform them equally well live. After a recent Nashville performance, rock and country music legend Brenda Lee hugged JaQuise and said, “I just saw you perform and you were great! You’re going to be a big star!”
