'American Heroes' concert set Nov. 8

The Cumberland County Community Chorus will hold a special benefit concert Nov. 8. This "American Heroes" concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Stone Memorial High School auditorium located on Cook Road in Crossville.

Joining the chorus for this event will be the Clarion Quintet from the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass, the "Andrews Sister" and Ann Looney on piano. The afternoon program will be a collection of patriotic melodies and Americana favorites. "An American Tribute," "Battle Hymn," "Stars and Stripes Forever," "Shenandoah," "This is My Country," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," and a "George M. Cohan Medley," just to name a few, are in the program.

The Young Marines of Cumberland County will lend their support, ushering and handing out programs, along with posting/retiring the colors. George Long will be Master of Ceremonies.

A freewill donation will be asked during the concert with all proceeds going to the Cumberland County Veterans Relief Fund, helping local veterans in need of assistance, and Any Soldier Inc., a nonprofit charitable organization helping active military proudly serving in harm’s way.

You are invited to an afternoon of musical entertainment celebrating freedom, thanking those who fought to preserve it and those who continue to do so today. Please lend your support to these two very worthwhile organizations.

Contact Helen Callis at 707-8177 or Jan Schimmel at 456-1051, or e-mail the chorus at cccchorus@frontier.com.
