Melissa Benjamin to offer perfect beginning to Christmas parade
Crossville native Melissa Ellis Benjamin and her band will be performing Christmas music as well as her self-penned song "Crossville" near the courthouse before the parade Saturday, Dec. 5, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. They will also be singing in the parade, as well.
Benjamin released her debut CD last March which featured the songs "Crossville" and "Blue Bayou" along with other gospel-grass hits. "Crossville" has received airplay on 102.5 WOW Country as well as Knoxville's 89.9 WDVX and the CD has kept Benjamin and her band busy this year playing at many local and regional venues.
She is currently in the studio working on her sophomore album which is geared more towards the roots/Americana genre, allowing her to showcase her strong jazz and blues vocal styling. Her sophomore CD is set to be released in early April when she takes the stage at the Palace Theatre on April 9, 2010.
So, before all the good spots on the sidewalk are taken for prime parade viewing, come out an hour early to enjoy the holiday music provided by Melissa Ellis Benjamin and her band. It will be the perfect beginning to the Christmas season.
