On Sept. 29 at 8 p.m., the Cumberland County Playhouse will present a very special Evening with Brenda Frye and Weslie Webster. Who could forget the musical duos of Andrews and Burnett, Martin and Merman and Streisand and Garland? Get ready for the next new dynamic duo… Frye and Webster! You’ve laughed at Brenda in The Mikado and cried with her in The Sound of Music and you’ve thrilled to Weslie’s memorable renditions of “Memory” and “Send in the Clowns.” Now catch this amazing duo as they blend classical and Broadway music — along with a generous helping of comedy — in a magical evening with some of their Playhouse friends: Britt Hancock, Jason Ross, Bryce McDonald, pianist Marian Sullivan and CCP’s ”Fabulous Five,” Tracey Barnes, Carol Boston, Carol Ann Chadwell, Debra Graham and Lisa Harrison!
In addition to this “Who’s Who” of local favorites, Weslie and Brenda have also lined up an impressive roster of special guest artists. The award-winning pianist Mary Scott Goode of Texarkana, TX, principal keyboard player with the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, will be featured on the keyboard. Also sharing the stage with Frye and Webster will be guest violinist Samuel Thompson of Baltimore, whose career spans orchestral, solo, and chamber music performance, and whose virtuosity has graced stages in Washington DC, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Austin, Baltimore, and Padova, Italy. And the renowned West Memphis, Arkansas High School concert choir Southern Exposure will also appear. Now in their 18th year, Southern Exposure has won grand championships in St. Louis, New Orleans, Nashville, Gatlinburg and Dallas. In 2000 the group made its first Carnegie Hall performance and sang a command performance for President Bill Clinton at the White House.
This extraordinary lineup of talent is sure to make An Evening with Frye and Webster one evening you won’t want to miss!
Currently running at the Playhouse are the new bluegrass musical comedy Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge (rated PG) through Oct. 26; Backwards in High Heels (rated PG, sponsored by Uplands Village), the dance-filled musical biography of the legendary Ginger Rogers, running through Nov. 2; and running through Oct. 27 is Five Guys Named Moe (rated PG), an exhilarating theatrical experience, complete with uproarious audience participation. Big River (rated G, sponsored by TAP Publishing) opens Sept. 27 and runs through Nov. 9.

'Georgia Songbird' coming to Palace June 7 for First Friday performance
EG Kight, “the Georgia Songbird,” is bringing her Country-Flavored Southern-Fried Blues back to Crossville’s Palace Theatre. Kight’s 2011 First Fridays performance garnered rave reviews from all in attendance with many of those audience members requesting an encore performance. PAART is very happy to grant their wish by presenting EG Kight at the Palace Theatre on Friday, June 7, at 7 p.m. central time.

GRITS coming to Palace May 31
Highly acclaimed band GRITS From Dumplin Valley will perform at Historic Palace Theatre on May 31 beginning at 7 p.m. Chris Marion, longtime keyboardist for world famous Little River Band, will join GRITS. Chris sometimes performs with GRITS when not on the road with LRB. A rising young talent from Nashville, Shelby Terrell, will start things off with a solo show.
